An art show and a series of public lectures in Ashland are part of the 91st annual meeting next week of the Pacific division of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

The group meets Sunday through Wednesday at Southern Oregon University, and about 300 faculty members and high school and college students are expected to attend, SOU spokesman Jim Beaver stated in a news release.

This year's theme is "The Art of Science," and the art show in conjunction with the meeting opens Saturday at the Center for the Visual Arts at SOU, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd.

Lectures begin at noon Monday and will be offered through Wednesday in the science building lecture hall. Lectures are planned on science education, art and biology and sustainable education facilities. Details are at sou.edu/aaaspd.
