North Medford's Robert Ross signed a national letter of intent Monday to wrestle at Southern Oregon University.

"We are really excited to get Robert," SOU head coach Mike Ritchey said. "He is an outstanding athlete for a big man and the top heavyweight prospect in the state this year."

Ross wrestled for SOU alum Nolan Harris at North Medford and was a two-time placer at the state championships. This past season, he was second at heavyweight.

Ross was also a member of the North Medford football team, playing for SOU alum Jeff Olson.

"We feel Robert will have a very promising career at SOU and will be a great addition to our tradition of strong heavyweights," Ritchey said.

Ross will major in criminal justice and had a 3.3 GPA at North Medford.

Southern Oregon is coming off back-to-back second-place finishes at the NAIA national championships.
