Guitarist Jaxon Williams will celebrate the release of his second CD with a solo concert featuring the music of Spain and Latin America. Funds generated by this concert will help finance his journey to Spain to study guitar.

Guitarist Jaxon Williams will celebrate the release of his second CD with a solo concert featuring the music of Spain and Latin America. Funds generated by this concert will help finance his journey to Spain to study guitar.

The concert, sponsored by the Jefferson Classical Guitar Society, will take place on Saturday, June 5, at the Congregational Church, 717 Siskiyou Blvd. The starting time is set for 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 General, $10 Seniors, $5 Students and children under 12 are admitted free. Tickets will be available at CD or Not CD, 343 East Main St. and at the door.

Williams, a native of Ashland and a 2006 graduate of Ashland High School, began the study of classical guitar at the age of seven. He was the 2005 and 2006 First Prize winner in the Oregon State high school classical guitar competition.

His concert program will include works by Spanish composer Isaac Albeniz and Paraguayan composer Augustin Barrios.

A student of Joseph Thompson and a long time member of the Jefferson Classical Guitar Society, Williams is currently a Guitar Performance major at Brigham Young University School of Music. His plans for the near future include continuing his guitar studies in Spain. His goals are to continue developing his career as a concert artist and to teach music at a university.
