After working with a Wilderness Charter School student, the Ashland Parks and Recreation Department has installed posts for slacklining in Triangle Park. An introductory event for the sport will be held today from 3 to 6 p.m. in the park, located at the intersection of Siskiyou Boulevard and Iowa and Morton streets.

Slacklining is a balance sport that uses nylon webbing stretched between two fixed points. Practitioners balance, walk and perform stunts on the dynamic, stretchy line.

The public is invited to attend and try the sport. People who have their own lines are encouraged to bring them. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
