ASHLAND — Three Ashland pitchers combined for perfection in a 12-0 win over Eagle Point in five innings on Thursday at North Mountain Park.

Backed by an errorless defense, Ian Kendall, Brady Thomas and Ethan Schlecht did not allow a baserunner in the rout.

"We played great defense and our pitchers threw well," Ashland head coach Don Senestraro said. "And we had some timely hitting. That is the recipe for success."

The second-ranked Grizzlies, still undefeated in Southern Sky Conference play, have won 15 straight.

Lucas Stone crushed a walk-off home run to right-center field in the fifth inning to trigger the 10-run mercy rule for Ashland (19-4, 14-0 SSC). He finished 2-for-2 with five RBIs.

Shortstop Nick Hall, who made difficult defensive plays in the third and fourth innings, went 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs batting leadoff.

Jake Scarminach was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Billy Hansen added three runs against the Eagles (6-18, 4-12).

Kendall, who was recovering from the flu, recorded four strikeouts in three innings. He improved to 7-1 on the mound.

The Grizzlies wrap up their conference schedule with a doubleheader at Mazama on Saturday.

"We are looking forward to the Mazama games and we are hoping to make a playoff push," Senestraro said.
