Southern Oregon University men's basketball coach Brian McDermott announced Tuesday that four more recruits — two prep standouts and two college transfers — have committed to join the Raiders for the 2010-11 season.

Tyler Emrick (Spanish Springs High, Nev.), Jordan Highland (Linn-Benton CC), Jeff Bush (West Linn High) and Sam Osofsky (College of Redwoods) have all signed national letters of intent to play for SOU.

Emrick and Bush will come in as freshmen to the SOU program.

Emrick, a 6-8, 190 pound forward/post, averaged 13.7 points and seven rebounds as a senior at Spanish Springs High in 2008-09. He also shot 61 percent from the field and averaged 1.4 blocks.

"(Emrick) really goes and gets rebounds and has very good timing as a shot blocker," McDermott said. "We look for him to develop into a very good 4-5 man."

Bush is a 6-2 point guard who averaged 18 points and earned all-conference honors as a senior.

Highland and Osofsky are both coming in as junior transfers.

Highland, a 6-5, 200-pound guard/forward, averaged 13 points and seven assists and also led his team in assists last year as he earned all-NWAACC honors.

Osofsky, a 6-5 guard, averaged 12.3 points at College of Redwoods and also shot 89 percent from the free throw line and 44 percent from the 3-point line.

Women's Soccer

Southern Oregon women's soccer coach Jon Clement announced Tuesday the signing of 12 players to join the Raiders in the Fall.

The group will included 11 freshmen and one transfer back to the SOU program.

"We're thrilled to welcome this group to campus and our program," Clement said. "They're all very good people and accomplished players who work their tails off. They've been well coached at some of the best clubs in the country and they've excelled and won at many of the most demanding showcase events-experience that will help them all jump right into the college game."

The group is led by the return of Stacy Hamer. Hamer played for the Raiders during the 2008 season and transferred to Whitworth last year to be closer to home and will return to the Raiders in the Fall.

Alyssa Bricker (Temecula, Calif.), Sara Dutra (Hanford, Calif.), Ashton Griffen (Duvall, Wash.), Kaylee Huie (Lake Tapps, Wash.), Keanae Loera (Camano Island, Wash.), Sydney Paulsen (Loveland, Colo.), Kennedy Roteman (Yorba Linda, Calif.), Lauren Slaughter (San Ramon, Calif.), Danielle Stave (Petaluma, Calif.), Devon Walker (Yelm, Wash.) and Julie Zamzow (Boise, Idaho) will all be freshmen for the Raiders in 2010.

SOU went 7-8-2 overall and 5-3-1 in Cascade Conference play and just missed out on the four-team Cascade Conference tournament.
