CENTRAL POINT — Ashland junior pitcher Brady Thomas surrendered two runs over the first two innings, then blanked Crater (8-12, 4-6 SSC) the rest of the way at Anhorn Field.

Thomas (5-1) struck out seven, walked three and allowed six hits. Crater pitcher Bryce Crawford (1-3) also gave up six hits and struck out nine.

The Grizzlies rapped four hits to erase a 2-1 deficit with a four-run rally in the fourth. With two outs, Billy Hansen and Ian Kendall singled. Luke Baldrica followed with a two-run triple, then Lucas Stone connected for a two-run homer.

Kendall had two hits, one run and one RBI for sixth-ranked Ashland (16-4, 11-0 SSC), while Crater's Sebastian Reynolds collected two hits and drove in one run.

Southern Oregon senior Rosie Converse finished with a career-best 3,828 points and finished second overall during Monday's finale of the Willamette Last Chance Heptathlon.

George Fox's Beth Stam won the event with 4,520 points.

Converse finished Monday with a leap of 14-4 1/4 in the long jump, a throw of 81-1 in the javelin and finished the 800 in 2:35.88.

Converse's last chance to qualify for the national championships in the hepthathlon will come at the Cascade Conference championships May 13-15 in Portland.
