The victim's face and hand were scratched in the incident, but the injuries were minor, according to the police report.
An Ashland man was mugged as he walked down Indiana Street early Tuesday, police said.
Two men approached the victim and demanded his wallet at 12:56 a.m., said Lt. Corey Falls with the Ashland Police Department.
A scuffle ensued after suspects took the man's wallet in the 500 block of Indiana Street, near Southern Oregon University, he said.
The victim's face and hand were scratched in the incident, but the injuries were minor, according to police.
The suspects fled the scene with the wallet, which contained about $100, a credit card and identification, Falls said.
The men have not been located, he said. Police described them as white men in their early 20s, who are approximately 6 feet tall.
The incident is unusual for Ashland and police are investigating it to see whether the victim and suspects may have been connected, Falls said.
"Sometimes these things aren't always as random as they seem," he said. "We don't know at this point. We are forwarding this to our detective division and they're going to be following up on it."
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Ashland Police Department at 482-5211.
