Mayor John Stromberg will kick off the Ashland City Council's Tuesday night meeting with a State of the City address.

Ashland's mayor traditionally gives an address describing the condition of city affairs during the first City Council meeting of the new year.

The council meets at 7 p.m. in the Ashland Civic Center Council Chambers, 1175 E. Main St.

After hearing the address, councilors will consider whether to approve an annexation that would allow Ashland's Modern Fan company to build a 17,650 square foot warehouse and light manufacturing building next to its current building on Washington Street.

Also Tuesday night, the City Council will once again take up the thorny issue of whether to expand Ashland's partial ban on nudity. Current city law bans the display of genitals downtown and in parks.

At a December meeting, the council ran out of time to vote on whether to give final approval for extending the ban to cover all outdoor public areas.
