Ashland Fire & Rescue responded to a structure fire at 70 Granite with report of smoke in the structure.
Wednesday 2:03 a.m. — Police arrested a 21-year-old woman for driving under the influence of intoxicants after an officer smelled alcohol on her breath during a traffic stop on B and Water streets. She was additionally cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Wednesday 10:59 a.m. — Police contacted a 44-year-old man inside the Suds-Ur-Duds Laundromat in the 2300 block of Ashland Street. The APD has a letter on file from the business owner to cite anyone for trespassing if they are inside the premise and not conducting business. The man was arrested for trespassing in the second degree, and was found in possession of methamphetamine, scales and packaging supplies. He was lodged at Jackson County Jail. In a separate case, a 43-year-old man was also charged with trespassing after he entered and unlawfully remained at the business with no legitimate reason for being there.
Wednesday 2:48 p.m. — A registered sex offender was discovered to be out of compliance by failing to register a change in address within 10 days of moving in the Jackson County area.
Wednesday 10:28 p.m. — Police arrested a 28-year-old man for driving while suspended during at traffic stop on Morton and Iowa streets. He was arrested and released with a citation.
Wednesday 11:44 p.m. — Police arrested a 32-year-old man for driving under the influence of intoxicants during a traffic stop for speeding and driving back and forth within his lane. He showed signs of impairment and consented to standardized field sobriety tests, showing marked impairment. He was transported to APD where he submitted to a breath test and blew a .14 BAC. In a separate case, police discovered that the passenger provided a false name after he had already been released. The man had felony warrants for his arrest, and attempts to relocate him were unsuccessful.

On Wednesday 11:34 p.m. — Ashland Fire & Rescue responded to a structure fire at 70 Granite with report of smoke in the structure. When firefighters arrived, they found fire in the living space and under the floor. Jackson County Fire District No. 5 and Medford Fire Department assisted with the fire suppression efforts. There were five engines, one ambulance and four staff officers on scene.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries.
There is no value estimate of damage at the this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire investigators will return to the fire scene today complete the investigation.
