The 12th-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team extended its winning streak to 13 with a 25-16, 25-3, 25-14 victory over Evergreen State Friday night in Olympia, Wash.

The 12th-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team extended its winning streak to 13 with a 25-16, 25-3, 25-14 victory over Evergreen State Friday night in Olympia, Wash.

Southern Oregon improved to 22-2 overall and 16-1 in conference play. The Raiders will play for at least a share of the Cascade Conference title tomorrow night at Northwest. Evergreen State fell to 1-25 overall and 1-16 in conference play.

Junior Leah Bergstrom led SOU with 11 kills and a .667 attach percentage and Heather Porter had 10 kills and a .600 attack percentage. Becky Johnstone had a match high 13 digs and Angela Spieker had 19 assists, five digs and one ace.

The Raiders put the match away in the second set by hitting .625 and holding Evergreen to a minus-.152 attack percentage. As a team, SOU hit .463 as a team and held the Geoducks to a minus-.023 attack percentage.

Men's Basketball

Fresno Pacific forced 25 Southern Oregon turnovers as the Sunbirds scored a 75-59 victory Friday in Fresno, Calif.

Southern Oregon dropped to 1-1 overall and will travel to Cal Maritime Saturday.

Senior Ryan Staker turned in a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Staker went 7-for-14 from the field, but just 2-for-6 from the free throw line. Humphrey Jackson added 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting and David Grant added 11 points.

Fresno Pacific got 17 points from both Jesse Childs and Todd Brown.

A Staker layup made tied the score at 5-5 four minutes into the game, but Fresno Pacific quickly pulled away and led 38-27 at the half and continue to pull away in the second half.

Academics

Southern Oregon landed 18 student-athletes on the Cascade Conference's Fall All-Academic team.

To earn the honor, student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 and be at least a sophomore.

The SOU cross country program led the way with nine student-athletes on the list, including Kelly Clark, Ryan Ghelfi, Kristen Juveland, David Laney, Ryan Matz, Chris Paterson, Levi Roudebush, Josh Seitz and Kael Steiner-Bailey.

The Raider volleyball team was represented by Leah Bergstrom, Dolores Christensen, Heather Porter, Angela Spieker, Leanne Stennett and Natalie Wilson.

The SOU women's soccer team had Mo Costello, Kristin Delsigne and Auika Muragin on the squad.
