An Ashland man punched a window at the Hong Kong Bar above the downtown plaza on Saturday night, causing a piece of glass to fall and hit a pedestrian in the forehead, police said.
The falling glass created minor cuts on the victim's forehead, said Sgt. Scott Schuster with the Ashland Police Department.
Orion Maxfield, 23, was issued a citation for committing a reckless act causing physical injury and the victim has decided to press charges, Schuster said.
Maxfield settled over any expenses with the owners of the Hong Kong Bar, according to police.
Maxfield apparently became angry and punched the window in the third-story restaurant at 11:39 p.m., Schuster said. The window broke and pieces of glass rained down, hitting at least one victim, he said.
"You're walking, minding your own business, and all of the sudden a piece of glass comes and slices your head," Schuster said.
It was the first time glass from a broken window above the plaza has struck a pedestrian, as far as Schuster is aware, he said.
However, similarly dangerous events have occurred in the past, Schuster said.
"I had a guy jump off the balcony of Alex's (Plaza Restaurant and Bar) last year and break his leg," he said.
