Raj Parikh has accepted the position of dean of the school of business at Southern Oregon University.

Parikh has 17 years of experience in academic administration as department chair, MBA program director, dean of lifelong learning, dean of three schools of business and provost and vice president of academic affairs.

Currently he is the CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Education Company in the United Arab Emirates.

“Dr. Parikh is an experienced academic administrator and financial executive,” SOU Provost James Klein said. “He has been instrumental in achieving accreditation, helping universities with financial challenges, starting new programs, increasing enrollments and establishing new instructional sites. We are delighted to have him lead our School of Business.”

Parikh begins work Aug. 31.

“It’s my goal to help SOU build on its strengths and maintain its position as a premier business school,” Parikh said. “As the former president of a county business development corporation, I also look forward to working with the southern Oregon business community. I am an advocate of improved access to higher education for working adults, and I am passionately student-centered.”

Parikh received his doctorate in accounting and finance at the University of Buffalo. He is also a chartered financial analyst, a certified management accountant and a certified financial manager.

He is co-author of “World Accounting,” a three-volume book on international accounting. From 2004 to 2007, Parikh was provost and vice president for academic affairs and acting dean of the College of Business at Delaware State University in Dover, Del.

Prior to that, he served as dean of the division of business and professor of business administration at Wilmington University in Wilmington, Del.
