Tease Restaurant & Bar in downtown Ashland will be hosting a sketching session with a live model on Tuesday.
The event is the beginning of the “Sketch Salone,” when Tease will hold drawing sessions on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
Selected drawings from the sessions will be displayed in the future at Tease.
“We are bringing a private artistic experience to a public setting to encourage awareness of the creative process,” said Julie O'Dwyer, co-creator of Tease. “Our restaurant and bar will be open to the public during the Salone and artists are welcome to reserve a drawing bench or sit in our lounge area. Everyone will be encouraged to pick up a pencil and sketch a little at their tables.”
Artists can reserve one of six front-row drawing benches for $10.
Bring your own drawing materials.
The fee for use of the drawing benches will help cover the cost of the live model, who will be partially clothed, O'Dwyer said.
There is no charge for other seating at Tease, although donations will be accepted.
The sketching event begins at 4 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. The first hour to hour and a half will be devoted to quick sketches, with the model holding longer poses later in the evening, O'Dwyer said.
Local artist and sculptor Kevin Christman, who has shown his work at venues such as Bohemia Gallery and Framing in Ashland, will be leading the drawing sessions and coordinating the model.
The restaurant and bar is located at 303 E. Main St., near the corner of East Main and Second Streets.
To reserve a drawing bench, RSVP to O'Dwyer by sending an e-mail to email@example.com.
