ASHLAND Construction begins Monday, May 18, to repave Interstate 5 in the Ashland area. Motorists should expect single lane closures in the construction work area, which will take place mainly at night.

The project will grind and inlay new pavement on the interstate northbound from mile post 11 to 19, and southbound from mile point 19 to 15. There will be intermittent nighttime ramp closures during construction, beginning in the northbound lanes near Exit 11.

Motorists will be advised to use alternate exits.

The $1.7 million project is the first in Southern Oregon funded with federal stimulus dollars. Most work on the project is anticipated to be completed in two weeks.
