This year marks the first full season for the Ashland Saturday Market.
This year marks the first full season for the Ashland Saturday Market. Last year the market was approved mid-season and began on July 19, having a successful first season, according to organizers.
The Saturday Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at Lithia Way and First Street, May 16 through Oct. 31. The market features fresh, local and organic produce from family farms, bedding plants, home-baked goods and unique crafts.
The market welcomes Oregon Trail shoppers as well as the Senior and WIC Farm Direct Nutrition Program coupons. Market customers who shop using their Oregon Trails card should know they may purchase food-bearing plants and seeds as well as produce.
"I am delighted to be part of this small grower-dense market." said Tracy Harding, Ashland Saturday Market manager. "At a time when people are concerned with their personal as well as larger financial issues, there is no better time to support small family farms and keep your food dollars in the local economy."
The Rogue Valley Growers & Crafters Market is also open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the Ashland Armory on the corner of East Main and Wightman streets and from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Thursday at the Medford Armory on South Pacific Hwy. just south of Stewart Avenue through Nov. 24.
