Situated on the banks of the Rogue River, Morrison's Lodge is offering a birding package in collaboration with the Siskiyou Audubon Society from May 1 through May 3.

The weekend will be filled with birdwatching alongside wildlife experts, gourmet dining and nightly accommodation in spacious quiet cabins with spectacular views of the Rogue River.

Among the wildlife experts is Dennis Vroman, who has spent thousands of hours in the field and is a respected bird bander and author. His books include "Guide to Birds of the Rogue Valley." Vroman will meet the guests Friday evening and answer questions about local birds over cocktails and h'orderves.

Also joining the group on Friday will be Cory Laughlin and Scott Drieschman, also longtime Siskiyou Audubon members. Drieschman will give a lecture Saturday night on Oregon birds and present an added feature on Antarctica, where he and his wife, Laughlin, study penguins.

Bird watching tours will be led Saturday and Sunday. Guests can expect to see and hear more than 50 species of birds on the nature hikes including: western bluebirds, black phoebes, five species of warblers, yellow-breasted chats, black-headed grosbeaks, Bullock's orioles, vireos, pileated woodpeckers, ospreys and bald eagles.

After dinner, Audubon leaders and guests will call and listen for owls such as great horned Owls, pygmy Owls and rare spotted owls.
