A man who police say hit a driver in the head with a gun last month in Ashland was arrested in Las Vegas on Thursday and is being transported back to Southern Oregon to face charges of assault, burglary and robbery.

Carr's accomplice, his sister, Chrissy White, has also been arrested on charges related to the incident.

"I'm glad these two people are in custody," said Sgt. Jim Alderman with the Ashland Police Department. "This is definitely one of those situations where I feel the community is safer with these people behind bars."

On March 13, Medford resident Clarence Carr, 27, jumped into the back of a car stopped in the 2200 block of McCall Drive, assaulted the driver and then fired shots as the driver and a passenger fled on foot, police said.

The driver was treated for a head wound but was not seriously injured in the incident.

Carr and White sped off in a black Mercedes, according to police. Later that night Medford police officers located the Mercedes and began pursuing it, but the chase was soon called off for safety reasons.

During the investigation into the incident, Ashland and Medford police detectives learned that 10 days before the assault on McCall Drive, Carr, White and an unidentified man robbed the victims of the assault, police said. The victims, whose names have not been released, were acquaintances of Carr's, officials said.

Carr faces multiple charges including assault, burglary, robbery and illegally possessing a gun, because he is a convicted felon.

Medford officers arrested White last week. On Friday she was also charged with robbery, burglary and illegally possessing a gun, because she is a convicted felon.
