Wanda Wood received a package this week she never expected to see again. It was a box of goodies she'd mailed to her grandson two years ago.

"I like to fainted when I looked at it," said Wood, who has lived in the Quiet Village neighborhood of Ashland since 1968.

She sent the care package to her grandson Dustin Wood, who's been in the Navy for about 8 years, on April 9, 2007.

It returned to her on March 6. It was filled with Jello, gum, oatmeal and other comfort items.

More amused than angry at the failure of the U.S. Postal Service to deliver her package, Wood says she'll give it another try — with fresh goodies.

"I'll just send him another package at Easter," Wood said.
