EUGENE — Cameron McCaffery made a jumper with 1.2 seconds left and No. 8 Century beat No. 3 Wilsonville 41-40 in the semifinals of the OSAA Class 5A boys tournament.

McCaffery, who finished with 28 points, scored the final nine points of the game for the Jaguars (22-7), who trailed 38-32 with just over three minutes remaining.

Century will play No. 1 Jefferson for the championship on Saturday. McCaffery scored 14 straight in the first half, beginning with the final basket of the first quarter and all 12 of Century's points in the second quarter.

The Jaguars led 21-16 at halftime, but Wilsonville (25-3) went ahead 30-28 at the end of the third quarter and extended it to 38-32 before McCaffery converted on a 3-point play with 3:12 left to spark the comeback.

Jefferson 66, N. Eugene 49

Terrence Jones and Tyrone Phillips scored 20 points each and No. 1 Jefferson will get a chance to defend its state title after a 66-49 victory against North Eugene in the semifinals of the Class 5A boys tournament at McArthur Court on Friday.

The Democrats (19-6), who beat Corvallis for the championship in 2008, will play for their fifth title against either Century or Wilsonville on Saturday.

Freshman guard Demerick Taylor led the Highlanders (14-14) with 15 points off the bench. It was the second straight season North Eugene has been knocked out of the tournament by Jefferson.

The Highlanders were up 15-11 in the opening minute of the second quarter. But Noah Kone-Nelson made a pair of free-throws to put the Demos up 16-15 and Jefferson closed the first half on a 16-6 run to lead 27-21 at the break.
