Allison Gida was able to penetrate at will while Kelsey McKinnis did most of her damage from the outside as Ashland rolled in the first round of the Lake Oswego Interstate Shootout.

Drew Van Vleck and Allison Gida combined for 27 points as the Ashland High girls basketball team won for the second day in a row, 45-29, over Aloha to advance to the semifinals of the Lake Oswego Interstate Shootout on Sunday.

The victory came a day after the Grizzlies (4-5) trounced David Douglas 58-43 in the first round. Against Aloha, Ashland tightened its defense, allowing only 13 second-half points.

The Grizzlies had three players in double figures as Van Vleck scored a team-high 14 points, Gida finished with 13 and Natalie DelCarlo 11.

Ashland will face Lake Oswego in the semifinals tonight at 7:15.

On Saturday, Gida was able to penetrate at will while Kelsey McKinnis did most of her damage from the outside as Ashland hammered the Class 6A Scots.

McKinnis accounted for all five of the Grizzlies' 3-pointers. She was 5-for-6 from deep and scored 23 points. Gida followed up with 20 points and was able to find open teammates off penetration in the paint.

DelCarlo tossed in 10 points for the Grizzlies, who have outscored their opponents in seven of eight quarters so far at Lake Oswego.
