PORTLAND — Oregon State running back Jacquizz Rodgers is the first freshman to be named Pacific-10 Conference offensive player of the year. Coach Mike Riley has been named the league's coach of the year.
Rodgers rushed for 1,253 yards and 11 touchdowns for the season. He has an injured shoulder and missed the Civil War game with Oregon. It's unknown whether he will play in the Sun Bowl Dec. 31.
Other Beavers who won league first-team honors: wide receiver Sammie Stroughter and tackle Andy Levitre on offense, and end Victor Butler on defense.
Oregon first-team selections were center Max Unger on offense, and end Nick Reed, cornerback Jairus Byrd and rover Patrick Chung on defense.
The voting, announced Monday, was by the league head coaches.
