The Ashland Independent Film Festival's final deadline for film entries is Dec. 8.

More than 600 films have already been entered for consideration for the Eighth Annual AIFF, scheduled for April 2-6. More than 80 documentary, short and feature films will be shown at the Varsity Theatre and the Historic Ashland Armory. For entry forms, visit www.ashlandfilm.org.

For a fourth year, the festival will feature The Launch, also a free competition for Southern Oregon student filmmakers in four age categories: elementary school, middle school, high school and higher education undergraduate. The deadline for submission to The Launch is Jan. 22, 2009.

Films are eligible for submission to the festival if completed after Jan. 1, 2007.

The Ashland Independent Film Festival continues to gain national attention as a successful regional festival. Last April, the seventh annual event was the largest ever, with more than 6,000 filmgoers purchasing 16,000 tickets.
