aLI BABA: Oregon Cabaret Theatre artistic director Jim Giancarlo directs and choreographs this reprise of the 1998 show he wrote with music by Jim Malachi and Darcy Danielson. The tale of Ali Baba's hero's quest, aided by Scheherazade and the Genie, is a panto derived from the Italian Commedia dell'Arte full of cross-dressing, puns, topical references and broad physical comedy. The show runs at 8 p.m. nightly with 1 p.m. brunch matinees on Sundays through Dec. 31 (no performances Nov. 24, 27; Dec. 2, 9, 16, 24 and 25), at First and Hargadine streets, Ashland. ski film: "Under The Influence," a 16 mm HD ski and snowboard film by Teton Gravity Research premieres in Southern Oregon at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St., Ashland. This film follows the exploits of today's top riders as they traverse the globe in search of the unique terrain and conditions that emerged from one of the deepest winters in recorded history.
