The Havurah Annual Auction presents "Tradition!" at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

"Our auction and gala event is very exciting this year," said auction chairperson Michael Monarch. "It's a chance to get fabulous bargains on items like coastal vacations and spa treatments while enjoying the charm of an Eastern European village complete with Klezmer musicians. In today's economy there's no better place to look for great deals than an auction."

There will be gourmet food with wine flowing throughout the evening and live entertainment featuring vocalist Bob Miner and surprise performances.

The silent auction from 5 to 7:15 p.m. features hundreds of gift certificates and items from local merchants including restaurants, spas, professionals and craftspeople.

"Our local merchants are what make our auction so successful," said Rabbi David Zaslow. "We could not do this without their generosity."

The live auction begins at 7:15 p.m., led by auctioneer Ron Burgess, and features a vacation spot anywhere in the world, a week in a villa in Costa Rica, getaways to the Oregon Coast, Maine and Mt. Shasta, as well as rafting trips, gourmet dinners and wine tastings.

"One of our most exciting items is the 'Romeo & Juliet,' a porcelain sculpture by Lladro," said Ayala Zonnenschein, Havurah program director. "Collectors of Lladro will appreciate the value of this uniquely beautiful piece that was retired in 1992. Art lovers and Shakespeare fans alike will want to place their bids."

Admission is $30 and includes food and wine. Once registered for the auction, anyone unable to attend may have a personal bidder assigned for the live auction.

Call 488-7716 to register by phone or go to havurahshirhadash.org/upcoming-events-at-a-glance.htm to register online.

Live auction items can be previewed on the Web site as well as vacations and special events so bidders can plan ahead. Raffle tickets are available on line and in the Havurah office.

Last year's winner took home more than $1,250, and winners need not be present to claim their prize.

The Havurah is located at 185 N. Mountain Ave. in Ashland. Call 488-7716 for more information.
