Stacy Hamer scored the lone goal as the Southern Oregon women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Northwest Christian on Wednesday night in Eugene in the Raiders' Cascade Conference opener.

The Raiders are now 2-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play and have won back-to-back matches. Northwest Christian fell to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in conference.

"It was great to come out and put another win together," SOU coach Jon Clement said. "The team showed great resolve and battled through playing on the road, the rain and playing at night."

Hamer's goal came at the 64:26 mark off a throw-in and an assist from Kelly Clark.

The goal highlighted what turned out to be an impressive defensive effort by the Raiders, who held Northwest Christian to just one shot in the 90-minute match.

SOU, meanwhile, had nine shots, three on goal. Clement praised the play of Hamer, Auika Muragin and Dianne Uehara.

The Raiders return home this weekend for their final two non-conference matches of the season. They host Westminster of Utah at 1 p.m. Friday and Western Oregon at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
