The group calls itself Tease-O-Rama — The World's Premiere International Burlesque Showcase and Convention, and its taking its show on the road. Tease-O-Rama aims to bring back old-fashioned burlesque complete with gals, guys, and gags galore.

After performing in Seattle and Portland, Tease-O-Rama 2008 arrives in the Rogue Valley for a show at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St., Ashland, hosted by Mobius and EQ.TV. Next, the show heads to San Francisco where "Zumanity, The Sensual Side of Cirque du Soleil" will give a special performance from its Las Vegas production.

The travelling show, "The Best of The Best in New Burlesque!" features more than 200 performers.

Tease-O-Rama purports to be the first convention dedicated to the neo-burlesque revival. Organizers strive to create an open forum for performers to meet, perform, share their skills and get up to date on developments in this evolving art scene. The medium of burlesque viewed through a 21st century lens offers endless opportunities for performance — from classic glamour to wry satirical commentary to carnivalesque freak-show skills.

Tease-O-Rama will offer classes in everything from tassel-twirling to pin-up photography. There is even a guide to all things burlesque, "The Big Book Of Burlesque," which aims to be a source book on burlesque today for fans, event producers, performers and interested observers. Call 925-586-2429.

Inspired by and in conjunction with Tease-O-Rama, Bohemia Gallery and Framing's October Show will be "Trick-or-Tease" featuring works in acrylic and mixed-media by gallery co-owner Nicole Hurley, oils by Gabriel Mark, paintings by burlesque performer Alice Stribling and works by Gabriel Price.

There will be a reception for the artists during the First Friday Artwalk between 5 and 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, along with special musical guests AnnieMac. For more information visit www.bohemiagallery.com or call 488-5227.

Tickets for Tease-O-Rama are $20. Tickets are available at Bad Ass Coffee, Medford; Bohemia Gallery and CD or not CD, Ashland; brownpapertickets.com/event/42928. Doors open at 7 p.m. for this 21 and over event.

There will be an after event party at 10:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Alex's Plaza Restaurant, 34 N. Main St., Ashland.
