For its summer 2008 production, the Children's Musical Theatre of Oregon will be staging "Oklahoma!" by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. The show will feature more than 40 performers ages 10-21 on stage at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. Performances are 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Aug. 21- 23, with a — p.m. matinee Saturday, Aug. 23.




Children's Musical Theatre of Oregon has a policy of casting all young people who complete the audition process. According to a press release from the theater, that policy ensures that all those who want to take part in a professional-level production &

beginners as well as those with experience &

can do so.




CMTO artistic director and co-founder John Taylor is directing "Oklahoma!" CMTO co-founder Rhonda Taylor is the show's producer, and CMTO assistant director Cailen McCandless is providing choreography. With over 30 years as a professional keyboardist, pianist, musical director, composer, and producer, John Taylor is the former musical director and conductor of Cirque du Soleil's "O" at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, as well as serving as musical director for Oregon Cabaret Theatre's productions of "Five Guys Named Moe," "Forever Plaid &

Plaid Tidings," and this summer's production of "archy mehitabel." McCandless was recently seen on-stage and choreographing CMTO's "Broadway" and the ABC/Disney segment of "High School Musical" airing this summer. Making their CMTO debut, are costume designer Sue Quackenbush, and Camelot Theatre resident scenic designer Don Zastoupil.




CMTO's previous productions have included "Peter Pan," "Broadway &

A Musical Journey," "High School Musical" and "The Wizard of Oz."




There will be a CMTO Character Party at 11 a.m before the — p.m. Satureday, Aug. 23, matinee. The party will include lunch, children's prizes and a photo taken with a child's favorite CMTO show character from past productions ("Disney's High School Musical," "Peter Pan," "The Wizard of Oz" and "Grease"). Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased on line at . Seating is limited.
