The Ashland Independent Film Festival and Coming Attractions Theatres present two showings of "When Did You Last See Your Father?" at the Varsity Theatre Friday, July 25 at 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. to benefit the AIFF and launch the Festival's Monthly Film Series.




"When Did You Last See Your Father?" stars Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent (Iris, Moulin Rouge) and Colin Firth ("Then She Found Me," "Love Acutally") and was the opening night feature at the 2008 Ashland Independent Film Festival.




The San Francisco Chronicle and the Chicago Sun Times give the film four stars and the New York Times says it is a "smartly played story, enlivened by drama and spiked with passion, the very thing that thinking audiences pine for."




"When Did You Last See Your Father?" is an exploration of a father-son relationship as a successful writer deals with his overbearing and bullish father's terminal illness, memories of his childhood and teens &

funny, embarrassing and upsetting &

come rushing back.




The nonprofit Film Festival's screenings begin a monthly series of Southern Oregon premieres and encores of Film Festival favorites showing on selected Fridays through November at the Varsity. These special showings will benefit preparations for the nonprofit 2009 April Ashland Independent Film Festival.




Tickets are discounted 25 percent for AIFF members and are available now at the Varsity Theatre box office, 166 N. Main.
