Bruce Sanford hit three home runs and was the winning pitcher in the second game as Central Point rallied for an Area 4 split against Ashland on Tuesday at Central Point.

The Pilots won the opener 13-10 before falling in the nightcap 11-1.

In Game 1, Ashland lost a 10-0 lead at the midway point then pulled it out with the help of a bad-hop single over the shortstop's head that plated two runs in the sixth inning.

Luke Baldrica had three hits and Luke Stone, Garrett Tygerson, Ian Kendall and Hayden Miller each had two for the Pilots.

Sanford was 2-for-3 with a homer, and Derek Cartwright and Bryce Crawford each had two hits for the Comets.

In Game 2, Sanford belted two-run shots in the first and sixth innings. The latter ended the game on the 10-run rule.

Zack Gregor's first homer, a three-run blast, put Central Point ahead 6-0 in the second. He also played outstanding defense in center field.
