When it all goes wrong, you've finally got it right &

is the message of the comedy "The Scheme of the Driftless Shifter," which will be presented by Oregon Stage Works' Ashland Children's Theatre.




A melodrama on the outside and a comedy on the inside, the 35-minute comedy will play one weekend only at 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1, at Oregon Stage Works, 191 A St., Ashland.




Dennis Klein, who directed last year's "The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged)" at OSW, will direct this farce, which looks at the possibilities of putting on a melodrama.




"The Scheme of the Driftless Shifter" features Ashland Children's Theatre student actors Lydia Trottmann, Colin Chasey, Morgan Graham, Sierra Allegra Wood, Makayla Laughery, Fielding Picton, Bronson Samel-Garloff, Star Grace, Emily Odian, Alexa Santos, Emily Elizabeth White, Castilla Andrus and Tyler Marie McIntosh.




Eve Smyth lends her talents to the cast and Peter Alzado, OSW's artistic director, will be making a cameo appearance as well.




A short prologue performance of "A Mellow Drama" will be presented by the Young Academy. Written and directed by Smyth, "A Mellow Drama" is a comic "lecture/demo" about the melodrama genre.




Smyth teaches acting and improv at Ashland Children's Theatre and has written several plays for their productions.




Tickets for the performances are $10 for adults, $12 at the door and $5 for children ages 6-17, $6 at the door. Tickets are available at The Music Coop in Ashland or online at .
