After 21 years of bringing ground-breaking theater to youth and adults throughout Oregon, Planned Parenthood's Teen Theatre needs financial help to continue its work.

The troupe will kick off its "Save the Teen Theatre Campaign" with an original play, "From the Heart." The show is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 87 Fourth St., Ashland.

With humor, poignancy, and music, the show includes many original scenes created by the actors that reflect the lives and true stories of teenagers.

"From the Heart" is directed by Cil Stengel and is appropriate for ages 13 and up. The Teen Theatre is known for performing at community events like the Martin Luther King Day celebration, International Women's Day, Parent-Daughter Fairs and the Lambda Awards.

Its primary work is in high schools and middle schools bringing positive messages about growing up, sex education and self-esteem.

General admission is $5 and $3 for students. Tickets are available at the door.
