Two Southern Oregon University women's basketball players were honored by the NAIA for something other than basketball this week.

Senior guard Chelsey Muri was named a 2008 Daktronics Scholar Athlete for the second year in a row, and sophomore guard Keri Nakamura was one of 32 women's basketball student athletes to receive the 2008 Champions of Character award.

Muri will graduate from SOU this year with a 3.8 GPA and a degree in Health and Physical Education, with a major in Spanish. She wants to be a teacher and coach.

Nakamura is a Health and Physical Education major with a 3.0 GPA.
