Ashland resident Gus Simms and Ashland Middle Schooler Taos-Cadarette-Stewart both fared well for the Superior Stingrays at the Oregon State Swimming Championships last weekend.

Simms, 13, acheived a personal record in all three events he competed in: the 50-yard freestyle (27.77), the 100 butterfly (1:10.09) and the 200 butterfly (2:39.21).

Cadarette-Stewart placed sixth in the 50 freestyle (29.13) to qualify for the Northwest Sectional Championships, March 14-16 in Federal Way, Wash.

The Superior Stingrays are based at the Superior Athletic Club in Medford. They are coached by former Ashland High coach Greg Amorelli.
