I grew up on the East Coast and scenes like this were very common there. I've been living in Ashland for more than 10 years now and was shocked for a split second at how people just walked by all the trash lining the sidewalks and didn't bat an eye.

The look on my face drew the attention of my cousin, who just shook her head while laughing.

"Man, Ashland has spoiled you," she said. "Welcome back."

I have never seen anything like this in Ashland, I explained while snapping the photo.

This photo was taken in New York City near Ground Zero with a Sony DSC-W7 point and shoot camera, shutter unknown, aperture 2.8, ISO 100.
