The Southern Oregon University Department of Music Guitar Quartet will present "An Evening of Eclectic Chamber Music" at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, in the Music Recital Hall at Southern Oregon University, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.




Featured will be pieces by J.S. Bach, Isaac Albeniz, Turlough O'Carolan, William Lawes and Rogue Valley composers Mark Knippel and Mark Jacobs.




Also on the program will be music by Argentinian musician, Astor Piazzolla; LA-based musician Andrew York; as well as guitar quartet arrangements of music by the Beatles and Pink Floyd. Much of the quartet's music is based in the repertoire and style of the LA Guitar Quartet.




The SOU Guitar Quartet consists of scholarship guitar performance major David Kelley and recently graduated performance scholarship students Matt Gwinup and Stephan Kane. Music department faculty member David Rogers directs.




Tickets are $12 general admission. Students are admitted free. Tickets and season passes may be purchased by calling 552-6101 or at the music box office prior to the performance.
