The Southern Oregon women's basketball team answered Warner Pacific's 11-1 rally with a backbreaking run of its own to close the first half en route to a 91-70 Cascade Collegiate Conference win at McNeal Pavilion.

Jacki Speer had 17 points and nine rebounds and Chelsey Muri poured in 16 points on 6-for-7 shooting as the Raiders (16-3, 7-2 CCC) outscored the Knights 22-7 in the last six minutes of the opening stanza to remain tied with The College of Idaho for second place in the league standings.

"Our defensive pressure has really been jump-starting our offense and that's kind of what happened in the end," SOU head coach Lynn Kennedy said.

Warner Pacific (5-13, 3-6) fell behind 26-15 midway through the first half before consecutive jumpers by Sally Brown and a layup by Aurora Dillon helped the Knights get within 27-26.

The game was tied 28-28 before the Raiders made their move. Speer scored six points in the game-breaking run, which finished with SOU taking a comfortable 50-35 lead into intermission.

"We have the talent, so it's just a matter of establishing our game early," Kennedy said.

SOU's third-year head coach also credited Whitney Scott with giving the Raiders a boost off the bench. Scott scored 14 points in just 17 minutes of action.

The Raiders ran away from the visitors in the second half, eventually taking a 34-point lead before letting off the gas down the stretch. SOU shot 47 percent (34-for-72) from the field and won by 21 points despite an off night at the free throw line, where the Raiders hit just 17 of 33 shots.
