Oregon Tech hit 13 3-point field goals and Cascade Conference leading-scorer Ryan Fiegi scored a game-high 25 points as the Owls outlasted Southern Oregon 89-76 Tuesday night at McNeal Pavilion.

Oregon Tech (15-2, 6-1) led by 15 points at halftime, before the Raiders (6-11, 2-5 Cascade) cut the margin to 69-61 with just under nine minutes left in the second half.

Matt Cowell scored 20 points to lead four Raiders in double figures. Also for Southern Oregon, Josh McDermott scored 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting, Ryon Pool scored 18 points on 7-for-15 shooting and Trenton Fraser added 15 points on 7-for-12 shooting.

The Owls outrebounded the Raiders 46-36 led by Josh Wetzler's game-high 12 boards.

Southern Oregon hosts Northwest Christian on Saturday.

Boys basketball

At Eagle Point, Dillon Thigpen poured in 17 points and connected on three 3-pointers as Ashland rolled to a 69-35 Southern Sky Conference-opening win over Eagle Point.

Thigpen added four assists for the Grizzlies (6-8, 1-0 SSC), who received 14 points from Garrett Tygerson and 11 from Charlie Sebrell.

Austin Rowley netted 19 for the Eagles (2-10, 0-1 SSC), who struggled with turnovers.

At Ashland, Eagle Point had difficulty handling Ashland's full-court press as the third-ranked Grizzlies jumped out to a 16-1 first-quarter lead en route to a 58-22 rout Tuesday night at Mountain Avenue Gym.

The Grizzlies (12-2, 1-0 SSC) came up with 18 steals in the contest.

Sophomore point guard Allison Gida paced Ashland with 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals.
