For its next production, Oregon Stage Works will be staging "The Great American Trailer Park Musical." Auditions will be held from 6:30-10:30 p.m. Sunday Jan. 6, at the theater, 191 A St., Ashland.




The Off Broadway comedy hit about white trash goings-on at Armadillo Acres, Florida's most exclusive trailer park, features a lot of girl-group singing in between the zaniness of the story.




All characters in the show sing and dance. While the dancing is not extensive it is important to the story. The voice ranges as noted are where the majority of the songs are written but all songs have some higher parts.




Betty: alto, 35 to 50 something. "bad ass" with a heart of gold. She runs the Armadillo Trailer Park Lin: mezzo soprano, 30s. Fiery with hints of a wild rock and roll past.




Pickles: mezzo soprano, 17 or so. Newly wed, airy, sweet and blissfully ignorant Pippi: alto, 28 to 35. A striking beauty. A professional stripper ready to stop making bad choices.




Jeannie: alto, 35 to 45. A faded beauty who hasn't left her trailer in years.




Norbert: baritone, 35 to 45. Jeannie's husband, a simple man and former high school football star who wishes his wife would get out of the trailer.




Duke: 2nd Tenor, 24 to 28. Pippi's obsessive, possessive, and excessive boyfriend "ex" boyfriend according to Pippi.




"The Great American Trailer Park Musical" will preview March 18 and 19 and open March 20, running through April 20 with performances at The Cascade Theatre in Redding May 1, 2, and 3.




Auditioners should bring a brief monologue that leans to the humorous and be prepared to sing an up tune and a ballad. You may use taped accompaniment.
