Dillon Thigpen scored all seven of Ashland's fourth-quarter points to help the Grizzlies on Thursday fend off Shasta 46-44 in the first round of the Harlan-Carter Classic.




The Grizzlies trailed 28-24 at the break, but played stellar defense and outscored Shasta 15-6 in the third period.




Ashland's offense sputtered in the fourth quarter, but Thigpen kept Shasta from chipping away at the lead to guide the Grizzlies (1-1) to their first win.




Ethan Moskowitz paced Ashland with 12 points and hit two 3-pointers, as did Thigpen.




In his return to the court from postseason football, Ashland's Matt Lipski tossed in eight points and eight rebounds while Austin Raymond added five points and four steals.
