Cameron Mitchell had 14 points and 14 rebounds and Willamette outscored Southern Oregon 16-4 in the final 10 minutes en route to a 56-47 nonconference win Friday night in the Flagship Inn Classic at McNeal Pavilion.




Southern Oregon (4-3) went up 43-40 on a 3-pointer by David Grant midway through the second half. Willamette got within one on a Ricky Thompson jumper and took the lead for good when Mitchell made a layup with 4:20 to go.

Michael Smith scored 12 points and Thompson added 10 for Willamette, which outrebounded the host team 54-32.




Southern was led by Trenton Fraser's 13 points, while Matt Cowell added nine points and four rebounds.




In the early game, Oregon Tech blasted Lewis-Clark State 82-67.




The Raiders cap the four-team tournament Saturday night against Lewis-Clark State. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
