An unknown person burglarized Happy Falafel overnight after throwing a large rock through the glass front door, owner Greg Wilcox said.

Police received several citizen calls about the restaurant, located in the Ashland Shopping Center, and notified Wilcox early this morning, they said.

Wilcox was reluctant to say how much money was stolen, but the crime was classified as second degree theft, which is between $50 and $749, police said.

"It wasn't a few bucks," Wilcox said.

Police have no suspect leads, but Wilcox said he will be reviewing surveillance videos from the shopping center.

In addition to the stolen cash, Wilcox said it will cost more then $1,000 to replace the glass and damaged window artwork.

Wilcox has owned the restaurant for three years and said this is a first for him.

"I wouldn't even have expected something like that here in Ashland," he said.
