Andrew Cataldo propelled the Ashland boys into the district tournament as it closed the regular season with a 2-2 effort at the Southern League Tournament Friday and Saturday.




For Medford, the boys team earned a split in matches against South Eugene and Marist on Saturday, while the girls tied Marist but came up short against South Eugene. Medford isn't eligible for postseason play since it is a combined team of athletes from North and South Medford high schools.




Cataldo had 13 goals in four games &

five came in Ashland's 12-7 victory over Marist.




Ashland, which took third place in league, also registered a 10-5 victory over Sheldon, but lost to Cottage Grove 17-8 and South Eugene 17-3.




Troy Robinson notched six goals for Ashland (7-7, 6-4 league), which received five goals apiece from Rafferty Swink and Jake Gavin.




Goalie Tucker Bacon totaled 10 saves for Ashland.




The district tournament is Oct. 27 in Springfield.
