Members of Oregon Stage Works' Playwrights' Unit have been busy writing plays and working on them with the local playwrights in the group. They will present "Detours," an evening of readings of short works, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Some of the selections are complete plays or monologues around 10 to 15 minutes long. Others are snippets or scenes from longer, full-length plays. Most pieces are "works in progress." The playwrights are directing their own plays. Cast members include Jamison Challeen, Tamara Hoffman, Linda Tye, Scott Ford and Kate Sullivan. Joe Caron will read the stage directions and Peter Alzado wil serve as emcee.

On the program are:

"Intuition," by Dori Appel

"The Robbery," Cathy Noah

Trading Up, " by Roy Glassberg

"Seal Women," a poem by Barbara C. Rosen

"Saving Love Canal," by Molly Tinsley

Mirage A Trois," by Richard Moeschl

There will be an opportunity to discuss the plays with the playwrights at the end of the readings. Tickets are $10.
