The Christian Church of Ashland continues its Old Time Movie Night series with a pair of old time cinema classics set in the circus.

The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Christian Church of Ashland, on the corner of Second and B streets, Ashland.

"Charlie Chan At The Circus" is the first feature of the evening. The film was produced by Twentieth Century Fox in 1936. Charlie Chan takes his family to the circus where he encounters the murder of one of the circus owners. Chan is prevailed upon to travel with the circus in hopes of discovering the killer before he, she, or it strikes again.

The second film starts at 8 p.m. and features W.C. Fields as Larson E. Whipsnade and Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy playing circus folk in Universal's 1939 frantic comedy, "You Can't Cheat An Honest Man." Whipsnade runs Circus Giganticus, a seedy operation that is constantly in debt. His performers give him nothing but trouble, especially Bergen and McCarthy. Loads of snappy one-liners and a frantic ping-pong game await under and around the big top.

An old time intermission reel featuring classic snack bar ads plays between the features. The box office opens at 6 p.m. Admission is free. Donations gladly accepted. A snack bar will be open the entire evening. Call 482-1561.
