Broadway actress/singer Sarah Jane Nelson will perform her solo cabaret show, "Stormy Monday" at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13 and Aug. 27, at The Black Swan Theatre at The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 15 S. Pioneer St., Ashland.




The program will include an eclectic mix of standards, jazz, musical theatre and blues, and more. Nelson will be joined by her husband, OSF actor Ren&

233; Mill&

225;n; pianist Dave Scoggin; blues guitarist Hawkeye Herman; and bassist Jim Calhoun.




After moving to New York City at age 17, Nelson worked her way up through regional and off-Broadway theatre until she made her Broadway debut in "The Green Bird," a commedia play directed by Julie Taymor. She then went on to star in "SWING!" on Broadway and on the first National Tour.




Other credits include plays and musicals at The Public, The Guthrie, La Mama, Capitol Rep, The Village Theatre, and many more. On television she played, Lori King, a murderous con-artist on the CBS series "The District" and wrote and acted in comedy sketches for the NY Public Access TV show "What's Up?" Internationally, she starred in the 30th Anniversary European Tour of "HAIR."




Nelson and her husband first came to the Rogue Valley for OSF's 2005 season and they plan to return for season number four in 2008.




Nelson was so thrilled by the local musicians that she recently recorded her latest CD "A Little Bit of Everything" at Freeman Sound in Ashland.
