Craterian Performances will host the Missoula Children's Theatre for its annual musical theater workshop for school-age youth culminating in two public performances.

This year's offering will be "Cinderella" the week of August 6-11 and the workshop is open to students who will be entering 1st through 12th grade this fall.

Fifty to sixty local students will be cast in the musical. Free auditions will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Monday, Aug. 6, at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, 23 S. Central, Medford. No audition material is necessary but pre-registration is required and is limited to 200 young people on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 779-3000 to pre-register.

There will be a $25 workshop fee (payable by cash on check on audition day) for those cast, and rehearsals will begin that afternoon. Participants should pack a lunch.

Missoula Children's Theatre sends two theater directors and a truck full of costumes, makeup and props to spend a week in Medford for their travelling theatrical workshops. Hundreds of local youth have appeared on the Craterian Ginger Rogers stage in MCT productions of "Johnny Appleseed" (1997), "The Wizard of Oz" (1998), "Snow White" (1999), "Wiz of the West" and "Sleeping Beauty" (2000), "Treasure Island" and "Alice in Wonderland" (2001), "Red Riding Hood" and "Hans Christian Andersen" (2002), "Hansel and Gretel" (2003), "The Jungle Book" (2004), "Pinocchio" (2005) and "Robin Hood" (2006).

These adaptations of children's stories are full of original songs, humor and movement designed to entertain all ages.

Performances will be at — and 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children.
