The Kiwanis Club of Ashland held a barbecue at Albertson's Ashland Store to help raise money for support of the many Kiwanis children programs throughout the year on On May 25 and 26.




Bratwurst sausages, polish dogs and hamburgers were grilled by several members of the local Kiwanis Club. Priscilla Benning was the main organizer and the primary cook. She was supported by members Don Paul, Larry Clark, Chad Smith, Sandy Kuykendall, Sylvia Sullivan, Russ Chadick and Ron Parker.




In all, $300 was raised from the barbecue.




The primary focus of the Kiwanis Club is "Serving the Children of the World." Some of the programs supported by Kiwanis include: Babe Ruth sponsorship, AHS Senior All-Night alcohol free graduation party, AHS Chamber Choir, Boy Scout Troup 112, Girl Scouts, AHS Key Club, Key Leader program, Pop Warner football team sponsorship, Oregon Boy's State, Bellview Reading program, Ashland Middle School Postcard program, Thanksgiving for the needy, ACH Baby Safety program, Campus Life-Teen Mom Mentoring program, Christmas Giving Tree at the local Albertsons Store, and Special Olympic programs.




In addition to purchasing food items, several citizens also money. Albertsons donatedfood items and supplies at cost, and made space available at the storefront for the event.
