The Siskiyou Singers' spring concert "Beautiful Dreamer," takes its title from Stephen Foster's well-loved melody. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 11-12, and at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 13. at the Southern Oregon University Music Recital Hall.




A chorus of more than 100 voices with two quartets and two ensembles of 12 singers will perform 23 traditional American songs. Artistic director Dave Marston will conduct, and Joseph Yungen, a music major at SOU, will accompany on piano.




The program is divided into the following categories:

3. Early American War Songs "Yankee Doodle" "Johnny Has Gone For A Soldier" — soloists: Katie Anderson, Beverly Bowman "Soldier, Soldier, Won't You Marry Me"




5. Appalachian Songs "Lonesome Dove" (Quartet: Harriet Snyder, Patty Dean, Rudy Erbrich, Ian Wessler) "Jennie Jenkins" soloist: Rita Grauer "Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair" "Sourwood Mountain" (Ensemble of 12 voices)




6. Great American Ballads "Drill Ye Tarriers" "The Water Is Wide" (Ensemble of 12 voices) "Shenandoah" "This Land Is Your Land"




Tickets are $12 in advance and $14 at the door, and are available at Party Place in Medford, and at Tree House Books, the Music Coop and Paddington Station in Ashland.
