Olive May (Davis) Dooms passed away July 4, 2014 in Gresham, Ore. She was 93. She was born April 26, 1921 near Bend, Ore. to Ottis and Achsah Davis. The family travelled by covered wagon from Bend to the Rogue Valley in 1923.

Mrs. Dooms grew up in the Table Rock area, but moved to Ashland, Ore. in 1937. She earned a teaching certificate from Southern Oregon Normal School. She taught for two years in a one-room schoolhouse near Table Rock.

She married Robert L. Dooms August 31, 1944 in Ashland. As her husband was on active duty with the U.S. Navy for 24 years, they lived in several different states as her husband was assigned to different duty stations. Following his retirement, they moved back to Ashland in 1964. They moved to Phoenix, Ore. in 1988. Mr. Dooms preceded her in death in 2005.

Mrs. Dooms was an active member of the Christian Church of Ashland. She was also a volunteer at the VA Domiciliary for several years.

Mrs. Dooms is survived by her four children, Alice Boatwright of Pottstown, Pa., Robert Dooms Jr, of Gresham, Ore., William Dooms of Central Point, Ore., and Donna Carrier of Portland, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Christian Church of Ashland. Arrangements by Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland, Oregon.
